Living Room - Sofa Area

Next arriving is the Sofa- Theme for the living room. We have spend so much time looking at sofa, traveling all parts of Singapore to see what is available. Have become a real expert in these from the selection of the wooden frame, inner cushion material, with or without spring, external cover... Finally selected this one. Not forgetting this is the first furniture that we have purchased, it have change the whole theme for the living room. From a earthy resort style, it have more towards contemporary.

Have a look at the shiny red and black carpet that was purchased at Geylang Serai. We have chosen this type of carpet which have a very smooth and fine texture. After walking through store n stores, manage to get a very good bargain, at least 40% discount. GOOD BUY!

Some matching cushions for the sofa. They come with a 3D-fur. Nice and comfy!

Coffee table was pending but we decided something simple and yet versatile could work. So this come a 3-pieces acrylic black table. Look there was only 2-pieces, another one was use in the bedroom for a good purpose. I shall post it later. The tables are stack-able thus could also double up as a storage for the remote controllers.
A simple table display was done with the glass container and pebbles bought from IKEA. A simple white rose have added a classy touch to it.

First Furniture and more coming

The First furniture that come into the house despite been the last item to order. We need a temporary bed to sleep on as we have not decide what mattress to buy and delay of the bed frame. We have wanted a big enough soft bed to be in the guest room, at least for two person comfortably. Initially have saw this but do not like the fabric design. After which mummy told me new deign have came out, we immediately took the piece. An artistic piece compared to the floral design that we have seen previously. And YES, We have got to try out the comfort of this for the guest.

Furniture No. 2
This dining set was chosen by mummy when she saw it in Courts. A very overpriced set though, due to the designer chair. Each chair cost around $299, have a look at the chair's leg.
We are in fact not very particular about the dinning set as long as it matched the whole living room theme.
It was also very comfortable to sit on, as comment by friends and relative who sit on it for hours during the house warming. But of course with mummy contacts, have manage to get it at a good price and even with delivery within 2 days :P

Next we have also put up the doorsign that we have bought in Bangkok. It stated our Thai name.It was made of wood with golden wordings.

Designer Wall For TV

Second task for the home after the tedious painting process was to mount the 32"in TV that we have been using in the master bedroom.
Wanted to DIY but it took more than 2 hrs and only half a screw went into the wall. Finally we decide to call for some help from the Expert... having the POWER Drill. It was only a 10mins job for them. Lesson learnt- Must get the Bigger drill for the house.

Forgot to mention another incident
caused by the small drill: The rear speaker (5 point speaker) that was mount in the living room . One fine morning it just 'BOOM!!' and drop on the floor. From a level of 2m up, it come down. The sound was so scarely. I tot what happen and there someone was still so sound asleep. Luckily no one walk pass the area, else the hit can get someone to get concussed. No damage done to the tiles and the speakers was only slighly dented. Hope it won't affect the sound system.

The focus of this task was the designer panel, bought from Ikea have two functions:
- Deco the plain purple wall
- Hide the wires that link to the TV

What do you think of this design? :)
We have thought for some time before coming out this idea. Due to space and budget constraint, feature wall was not done. But i thought this was not a bad alternative after all. We can change the design as and when we like to match the bedsheets.

Choosing Furnitures/ Furnishing Part 1

Endless trips were made to IKEA, different furniture shops, furniture exhibition, electronic stores, hardware shops to look for the basic furnishing for the house. Here's a look at some of the pictures taken during the shopping process.

Shopping for the bedframe, we settled on a designer platform bedframe that comes with a side platform for seating. A really interesting concept for a bedframe.

Choosing the colours for the bedframe cover. We settled on grey on grey and due to some hiccups during the delivery process (delay after delay) the company decided to make it up to us by offering a discount of the bedframe as well as and additional set of bedframe cover. (And that we choose the purple you saw in the earlier photo.)

Saw this TV console that looks like one of those feature wall (minus the carpentry work and the permanent fixture). It has very cool compartments for hiding the speakers and wirings that you'll run when connecting up the flat screen panel be it plasma or LCD.

This is one of the dining table we saw at IKEA and feels that it fits the theme of the house. A contemporary feel for a modern home. The black colour table top accentuates that modern feel. However this what not what we settled on. The one we got is a lot better than this in terms of quality/build and feel. (And expectedly, it ain't as cheap as the IKEA price then)

2 out of the tens of coffee table we saw while shopping around. At that point in time, we were still deciding whether to put a coffee table in the living room. That was to due the fact that our sofa we got earlier was not really that common and the shape and size sort of restricted the types of the coffee table that we can get to match.

This is the other item we were looking at. A sofa bed for the guest room. Something that does not take up too much space but yet when guests come over to stay for the night the sofa can easily transform the a comfortable bed. This was taken at LOT1 Seahorse shop. Ended up not getting this sofa bed as it's actually not very big when unfolded into a bed.
