Here's how the bedframe looks like with the matteress fitted in. It's a custom designer frame as platform beds are rather common. This separates from the rest with the addition seat by the side of the bed. With provision of a seat cushion you could just sit by the side to read a book before hopping in to bed.

Eeyores fall in. The collection continues to grow.

The lighted egg. Provides a dim night light. It's connected to a timer which switches of itself to conserve electricity.

Starhub digital set top box. Once you started watching cable, free to view channel contents are quite rubbish
Pioneer DVD Player with HDMI output and upscaling to 1080p. This player makes some of the DVDs look really good on the HD panel with it upscaling capability. Only gripe I have, it doesn't read some of the discs.
Pioneer AV 5.1 Receiver. Not those top of the line ones, but is good enough, if you're not to choosy about it. Does have a bit of regret not getting the set from Denon or the better set from Pioneer that comes with HDMI switching as well as 7.1 channel decoding.

Philips 42" Full HD LCD TV. We were contemplating on whether to get the 47" one as there was a pretty good offer then. After much consideration, we missed the promotion and ended up getting the 42" instead. That was done with much research too. It was such a good buy that even Claurene joined in the purchase and got one for her family. The price is considered quite good even till now.

This is how the entire home entertainment setup looks like with the HTPC hidden from view. Boston Subwoofer and JBL speakers works quite well with the Pioneer receiver. This is how it looks like as of now (Dec 2008). Still considering about getting a silver Playstation 3 to fill up the gap in the console.


[Non-Tech Stuff]

Frilly blind to act as a separator between the door and the windows. Supposedly from the fengshui perspective, it's not good to have the door directly facing the window. Aesthetically, it as as a visual separator between the doorway and the actual living room, it gives the living room a more regular shaped look as well as allowing the dining area to be visually segregated from the living room area.

Much debate went on in the selection of the living room clock. We had a more elaborate one in mind but installation as well as maintenance will be quite a hassle. This was therefore settled. Also the clock face design matches the the

2 statues that we feel fits into the living room very well. Also the design celebrates the joy of togetherness.

Comfy Mattress zzzz

Have been long since i last update. Busy with work or just lazy? :P

Since the day we have decided to buy our place, have been visiting my mum store to try out different mattress. From the normal range to the range fitted for Kings, we have lie down on each and every range they have for at least 5mins each. The price range was also very big, from a few hundreds to even ten thousand for a piece of mattress. It doesn't mean the best mattress is the most expensive one. The selection is based on each and everyone preference. Luckily both of us preferred a softer feel, we will not have difficulty accomadating one another. Imaging if you preferred a soft mattress, but your partner can't sleep without a firm mattress, you will have a headache.

Next thing that you will have to look out for is the spring in the mattress. Different brand of mattress will have different name and mechanism of their spring configuration. Or either people will go for pocketed spring where each of the spring will be individually wrapped. Advantage is non-disturb sleep for your partner especially if you tend to twist and turn alot at night. Together with the latex topper, it give a soft and comfy feel. Pro and con of latex: It will not disintergate or change shape after many many year but it will be slightly warmer.

The comfy Richmond mattress from Kingkoil have arrived. Delivery was fast, took less than 3days after ordering. Of course, my mum sell mattress and the service to be have to be first class. However pending was the bedframe that had a super delayed of shipment. We have to sleep in the guest room till then.
